The PSS 02-20M-200 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for high performance and reliability in marine applications. This advanced mechanical face seal provides an effective barrier against water intrusion while accommodating the natural movement of the propeller shaft.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a unique design where the sealing surface is established between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front side of the bellows using hose clamps, while the back end of the bellows is fitted over the stern tube and also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft, positioned in front of the carbon flange. As the rotor compresses the bellows, it maintains a constant preload that ensures continuous contact between the rotor and the flange, effectively compensating for any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to be oversized relative to the shaft diameter, allowing it to "float" and accommodate misalignment and vibration. The rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings that are recessed into the collar's bore, allowing them to rotate with the shaft and rotor without experiencing wear.
