The PSS 02-20M-112 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for optimal performance in marine environments. Its innovative mechanical face seal technology ensures a reliable, leak-free seal, providing peace of mind for boat owners.

This shaft seal features a unique design where the sealing surface is established between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows, which is clamped to the stern tube, ensuring a robust connection. The stainless-steel rotor, mounted on the shaft, compresses the bellows, creating a pre-load that maintains constant contact with the carbon flange. This design allows for compensation of any fore and aft movement due to propeller thrust, ensuring a secure seal under varying conditions.

The carbon flange is over-bored to the shaft diameter, enabling it to float around the shaft and effectively address misalignments and vibrational issues. Additionally, the stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings, which rotate with the rotor and do not suffer wear during operation.
