The PSS 02-200-400 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for reliable performance in demanding marine environments. This advanced mechanical face seal features a unique design that ensures optimal sealing between the stainless-steel rotor and the carbon flange, providing unparalleled durability and efficiency.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is formed between the rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows with hose clamps, while the back end fits over the stern tube, also secured with clamps. The rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellows to maintain constant contact between the two sealing surfaces. This preload allows the PSS to adapt to any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, accommodating misalignment and vibration issues effectively. The rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings recessed in the collar's bore, which rotate with the shaft and do not wear during operation.
