The PSS 02-200-334 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for superior performance in marine applications, ensuring a reliable seal in demanding conditions.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal design, where a seamless sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows using hose clamps, while the back end of the bellows encases the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange and compresses the bellows upon installation. This pre-loading maintains continuous contact between the rotor and carbon flange, effectively accommodating the variable movement caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft due to its over-bored construction, which helps to mitigate misalignment and vibration issues. The rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings that are recessed into the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with the shaft and do not suffer wear during operation, ensuring longevity and reliability.
