The PSS 02-200-234 Dripless Shaft Seal is a high-performance solution for marine applications, designed to effectively manage the challenges of shaft sealing in stern tubes. This innovative product ensures a reliable seal while accommodating various operational conditions.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal operates as a mechanical face seal, where the sealing mechanism is established between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely fastened to the front of the bellows using hose clamps, while the rear of the bellows fits snugly over the stern tube, also secured by hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellows before being locked in place with set screws. This pre-load creates a consistent contact between the rotor and the carbon flange, allowing the seal to adapt to any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust. The carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft due to its over-bored configuration, which helps mitigate issues related to misalignment and vibration. Additionally, the rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings that are recessed into the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring minimal wear during operation.
