The PSS 02-200-212 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered to provide reliable sealing for stern tubes, ensuring optimal performance and durability in marine applications.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal functions as a mechanical face seal, utilizing the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange to create an effective sealing surface. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows' front side using hose clamps, while the back end fits over the stern tube and is similarly secured. The stainless-steel rotor is positioned on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellows before being fixed in place with set screws. This pre-load maintains consistent contact between the rotor and flange, allowing the seal to accommodate any forward or backward movement caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the over-bored carbon flange allows it to "float" around the shaft, effectively compensating for misalignments and vibrations. The rotor is sealed to the shaft by two O-rings, which are recessed into the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring minimal wear over time.
