The PSS 02-150M-734 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for durability and reliability in marine applications. This advanced mechanical face seal utilizes a unique design that ensures optimal sealing performance.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal features a mechanical face seal formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows' front side using hose clamps, while the rear end of the bellows fits over the stern tube and is also secured with clamps. The stainless-steel rotor mounts on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellows to maintain consistent contact between the rotor and flange surfaces. This pre-load is crucial for accommodating the variable movements caused by propeller thrust.

Moreover, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, allowing it to effectively manage misalignment and vibration issues. Sealing is enhanced by two O-rings that are recessed into the collar's bore, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, minimizing wear over time.
