The PSS 02-150M-712 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for marine applications, ensuring a reliable barrier against water ingress. This mechanical face seal features a unique design that combines durability and flexibility, making it ideal for stern tube installations.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows, providing a stable connection. The bellows fits snugly over the stern tube, ensuring a tight seal with the help of hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, applying compression to the bellows. This pre-load is critical, as it maintains constant contact between the rotor and carbon flange, allowing the system to accommodate forward and backward movement caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, compensating for misalignment and vibration. Sealing is further enhanced by two O-rings that are recessed into the collar's bore, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring minimal wear over time.
