The PSS 02-150M-612 is a high-performance dripless shaft seal designed for marine applications. Engineered for durability and efficiency, this mechanical face seal utilizes a unique design to ensure a reliable, leak-free operation even under challenging conditions.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal employs a mechanical face seal mechanism. The sealing surface forms between the flat surfaces of the rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front side of the bellows using hose clamps, while the back end of the bellows fits over the stern tube and is also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange. It compresses the bellows before being secured to the shaft with set screws. This compression, known as pre-load, ensures constant contact between the stainless-steel rotor and carbon flange, allowing the seal to accommodate any fore and aft movement from propeller thrust. Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, which helps to mitigate misalignment and vibration issues. The seal's integrity is further enhanced by two O-rings recessed into the collar's bore, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, preventing wear during operation.
