The PSS 02-140M-858 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for superior performance in marine applications. This advanced sealing solution ensures reliability and efficiency, effectively preventing water ingress while accommodating the dynamic movements of the stern tube.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal operates as a mechanical face seal, utilizing the interaction between a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange to create a tight sealing surface. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows with hose clamps, while the back end fits over the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor, mounted on the shaft, compresses the bellows and maintains a consistent preload, ensuring constant contact between the rotor and flange. This design allows for compensation of fore and aft movement due to propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, effectively addressing misalignment and vibration issues. The stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings that rotate with the assembly, minimizing wear during operation.
