The PSS 02-140M-800 Dripless Shaft Seal is an innovative solution designed for marine applications, ensuring a reliable and leak-free operation. Engineered with precision, it addresses the challenges posed by propeller thrust and misalignment, making it an essential component for maintaining the integrity of your vessel's stern tube.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal, where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows using hose clamps, while the rear of the bellows is fitted over the stern tube and also secured with clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellows before being fixed to the shaft with set screws. This pre-loading ensures consistent contact between the rotor and flange surfaces, allowing the PSS seal to effectively accommodate the axial movements caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft due to its over-bored construction, which helps to mitigate misalignment and vibration issues. The rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings that are recessed into the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with the shaft, ensuring minimal wear throughout operation.
