The PSS 02-140M-712 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for superior performance in marine applications. This mechanical face seal utilizes a unique system to ensure a reliable and leak-free operation.
Constructed with a stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange, the sealing surface is created between their flat surfaces. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows, which fits over the Stern tube and is held in place with hose clamps. The rotor compresses the bellows, maintaining constant contact with the carbon flange and enabling the seal to adjust to the dynamic movements caused by propeller thrust. This design also allows the carbon flange to float around the shaft, compensating for misalignment and vibration.
The rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings that rotate with it, ensuring minimal wear during use. This robust construction provides durability and reliability under various conditions.
