PSS 02-138-212 - Dripless Shaft Seal 1 3/8", 2 1/2" Stern Tube
The PSS 02-138-212 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for optimal performance in marine applications. This innovative seal utilizes a mechanical face design to maintain a reliable barrier against water ingress, ensuring the longevity and efficiency of your vessel's propulsion system.
The PSS - PYI Type A Shaft Seal features a unique sealing mechanism that consists of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellow with hose clamps, while the rear of the bellow fits over the stern tube, also held in place with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellow to maintain constant contact between the rotor and flange, effectively accommodating any forward and backward movement caused by propeller thrust.
Designed for adaptability, the carbon flange is over-bored for the shaft diameter, allowing it to float and compensate for misalignment and vibration. The stainless-steel rotor features two O-rings recessed into the collar's bore, which rotate with the shaft, minimizing wear and enhancing durability during operation.
