The PSS Shaft Seal is engineered for optimal performance in marine applications. This mechanical face seal features a unique design that utilizes a stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange to create a robust sealing surface. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellow, which fits over the stern tube and is fastened with hose clamps, ensuring a tight fit.

As the stainless-steel rotor compresses the bellow, it maintains constant contact with the carbon flange. This pre-load allows the shaft seal to effectively handle variable movement from the propeller thrust, compensating for any forward or backward motion.

Designed for versatility, the carbon flange is over-bored to the shaft diameter, enabling it to float and adapt to misalignment and vibrations. The rotor is sealed with two recessed O-rings that rotate with the shaft, preventing wear during operation.
