The PSS 02-130M-712 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for optimal sealing in marine applications. This advanced Type B mechanical face seal features a stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange, ensuring a reliable and effective seal. The unique design allows for flexibility and compensation for misalignment and vibration, making it ideal for stern tube installations.
The sealing mechanism consists of a flat surface contact between the rotor and the carbon flange. The carbon flange is attached to the bellow with hose clamps, while the bellow itself fits securely over the stern tube. The rotor compresses the bellow, maintaining constant contact and allowing for adjustments due to propeller thrust. With two O-rings sealing the rotor to the shaft, wear is minimized during operation, ensuring longevity and performance.
