PSS 02-125M-712 - Dripless Shaft Seal 125 mm, 7 1/2" Stern Tube
The PSS 02-125M-712 Dripless Shaft Seal is a high-performance mechanical face seal designed for stern tube applications. Its innovative design features a stainless-steel rotor paired with a stationary carbon flange, ensuring efficient sealing and durability.
The Type B PSS Shaft Seal operates by creating a sealing surface between the flat faces of the rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange, secured with hose clamps, attaches to the front of the bellow, while the back fits over the stern tube, also held in place with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor compresses the bellow, which maintains constant contact between the rotor and the carbon flange, accommodating any fore and aft movement from propeller thrust.
Designed to handle misalignment and vibration, the carbon flange is over-bored to the shaft diameter, allowing it to float around the shaft. This flexibility enhances its performance in dynamic conditions. The rotor is sealed to the shaft with two recessed O-rings that rotate with the shaft, minimizing wear during operation.
