The PSS 02-125M-700 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for optimal performance and longevity in marine applications. This innovative product ensures a reliable seal, minimizing leakage and enhancing the efficiency of your stern tube system.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal functions as a mechanical face seal, where the sealing surface is established between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front side of the bellow using hose clamps, while the back end fits over the stern tube and is also secured with clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is positioned on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellow before being fixed to the shaft with set-screws. This pre-load maintains constant contact between the stainless-steel rotor and carbon flange, allowing the seal to adapt to the varying fore and aft movements caused by propeller thrust. The carbon flange is over-bored to the shaft diameter, enabling it to “float” around the shaft and effectively compensate for misalignment and vibration issues. Additionally, the stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings that are recessed into the collar's bore, allowing them to rotate with the shaft without suffering wear during operation.
