PSS 02-125M-634 - Dripless Shaft Seal 125 mm, 6 3/4" Stern Tube
The PSS 02-125M-634 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for optimal performance in marine environments. Utilizing a mechanical face seal, it ensures reliable protection against leaks and enhances the longevity of your stern tube system.
The Type B PSS Shaft Seal features a unique sealing surface formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front side of the bellow with hose clamps, while the rear end fits over the stern tube and is also secured with clamps. The rotor compresses the bellow, which is then fixed to the shaft using set-screws, maintaining consistent contact between the rotor and the carbon flange. This pre-load allows the seal to adapt to variable movements caused by propeller thrust.
Designed to accommodate misalignment and vibration, the carbon flange is over-bored to the shaft diameter, enabling it to float around the shaft. The stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft by two recessed O-rings, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring minimal wear during operation.
