The PSS 02-125M-612 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for superior sealing performance in marine applications. It utilizes a mechanical face seal that consists of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. This innovative design ensures a reliable seal, preventing leaks while allowing for movement due to propeller thrust.
The stationary carbon flange is securely attached to the bellow using hose clamps, while the bellow fits snugly over the stern tube. The stainless-steel rotor, mounted on the shaft, compresses the bellow, maintaining constant contact with the carbon flange. This pre-load feature effectively accommodates any fore and aft movement, ensuring optimal sealing under various operating conditions.
The carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, which helps compensate for misalignment and vibration, enhancing durability and performance. Additionally, the rotor is sealed to the shaft with two recessed O-rings that rotate with the shaft, preventing wear over time.
Temperature Limits: -13°F to 425°F (-25°C to 220°C)
