PSS 02-120M-800 - Dripless Shaft Seal 120 mm, 8" Stern Tube

The PSS 02-120M-800 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered to provide exceptional sealing for stern tubes, ensuring reliable performance under various conditions.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal is a mechanical face seal that forms a sealing surface between the flat stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellow's front side with hose clamps, while the back end fits over the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft just in front of the carbon flange, where it compresses the bellow before being fastened to the shaft with set-screws. This pre-load ensures consistent contact between the rotor and flange, allowing the seal to adapt to any movement from propeller thrust. The carbon flange is designed to "float" around the shaft, accommodating misalignment and vibration. Additionally, the rotor is sealed to the shaft using two recessed O-rings that rotate with it, minimizing wear during operation.
