The PSS 02-120M-714 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for optimal performance in marine applications, ensuring a reliable seal against water ingress. This device employs a mechanical face seal design, featuring a stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange that work together to maintain a watertight barrier.

The stationary carbon flange is secured to the bellow, which is clamped in place on the stern tube. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft, compressing the bellow to create a constant contact with the carbon flange. This pre-load ensures effective sealing, accommodating any axial movement caused by propeller thrust. Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, alleviating misalignment and vibration issues.

Sealing is enhanced by two O-rings that fit into the rotor collar, rotating with the shaft to minimize wear. The PSS shaft seal is built to endure extreme temperatures from -13°F to 425°F (-25°C to 220°C) and can handle pressures up to 50 PSI (3.5 BAR) with a maximum shaft RPM of 7,000.
