The PSS - PYI Type A PSS Shaft Seal is designed for optimal performance in marine applications, ensuring a reliable and efficient sealing solution.

This mechanical face seal features a unique sealing surface formed between the smooth, flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange, secured to the front of the bellow with hose clamps, works in tandem with the bellow that fits over the stern tube. The rotor is mounted on the shaft, compressing the bellow to maintain a constant contact between the rotor and flange, accommodating any forward and backward movement caused by propeller thrust.

The carbon flange is specifically over-bored to the shaft diameter, allowing it to float and effectively mitigate misalignment and vibration. The stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings that are recessed into the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring they experience minimal wear during operation.
