The PSS 02-115M-634 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for superior performance in marine applications. This innovative Type B mechanical face seal features a unique design that ensures effective sealing and adaptability to various conditions.

The sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows with hose clamps, while the bellows fits over the stern tube, also secured by clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft, compressing the bellows before being secured with set screws. This pre-load ensures constant contact between the rotor and flange, accommodating variable movements caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is over-bored to allow it to "float" around the shaft, effectively addressing misalignment and vibration issues. The rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings that rotate with the shaft, minimizing wear during operation.
