The PSS 02-115M-612 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for reliable performance in marine applications. This mechanical face seal utilizes a unique design that ensures a secure and efficient seal, providing peace of mind while navigating various water conditions.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal features a sealing surface formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is mounted on the front side of the bellow, which is secured with hose clamps. The back end of the bellow fits over the stern tube and is also held in place with clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is attached to the shaft, compressing the bellow before being secured with set-screws. This compression maintains constant contact between the rotor and the carbon flange, allowing the seal to adapt to the variable movement caused by propeller thrust.

The carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, effectively compensating for misalignment and vibration. Sealing is achieved through two O-rings recessed into the collar bore, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring minimal wear during operation.
