The PSS - PYI Type A PSS Shaft Seal is engineered for optimal performance in marine applications. This innovative mechanical face seal features a unique design that ensures a reliable seal between the rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellow, which fits over the stern tube, while the stainless-steel rotor compresses the bellow to maintain constant contact. This design allows the seal to effectively accommodate the variable movements caused by propeller thrust.

The carbon flange is custom over-bored to match the shaft diameter, enabling it to "float" and compensate for misalignment and vibration, enhancing durability and performance. The rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings recessed in the collar, ensuring that wear is minimized during operation.
