The PSS 02-114-312 Dripless Shaft Seal offers a reliable solution for marine applications, ensuring a secure and leak-free connection between the vessel's shaft and stern tube.

The PSS Shaft Seal operates using a mechanical face seal formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the vessel's stern tube with hose clamps, while the front side of the bellows is also connected with hose clamps. The stainless steel rotor is fitted onto the shaft in front of the carbon flange, and it compresses the bellows before the collar is fixed to the shaft using set-screws. This pre-load maintains contact between the faces and allows the PSS to effectively counteract thrust from the propeller.

Designed for flexibility, the carbon flange is bored larger than the shaft diameter, permitting it to float around the shaft and accommodate misalignment and vibrations. Additionally, the stainless steel collar is sealed to the shaft by two o-rings, which are recessed in the collar's bore. These o-rings rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring minimal wear throughout operation.
