The PSS 02-114-300 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for optimal performance in marine applications. This innovative mechanical face seal features a unique design that ensures reliable sealing and compensates for movement due to propeller thrust.

The PSS - PYI Type A Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal mechanism, where the sealing surface is formed between a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellow with hose clamps, while the bellow itself fits over the stern tube and is also clamped in place. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft, positioned in front of the carbon flange, and is designed to compress the bellow prior to being secured to the shaft with set screws.

This pre-compression maintains consistent contact between the flat surfaces of the rotor and the carbon flange, allowing the seal to adjust to any forward or backward movement caused by propeller thrust. The carbon flange is engineered to "float" around the shaft, which helps mitigate misalignment and vibration issues.

Two O-rings, recessed within the collar bore, seal the stainless-steel rotor to the shaft. These O-rings rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring minimal wear during operation.
