The PSS - PYI Type A PSS Shaft Seal is designed for reliable performance in marine applications. This innovative mechanical face seal features a unique sealing system that utilizes a stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange to create a secure barrier against water ingress.

The sealing mechanism consists of flat surfaces that ensure optimal contact, allowing the PSS to adapt to movement caused by propeller thrust. The carbon flange is engineered to float around the shaft, effectively managing misalignment and vibration, which enhances durability and reliability.

Installation is straightforward, with the stationary carbon flange attached to the bellow via hose clamps, while the bellow itself secures to the stern tube. The stainless-steel rotor is fitted on the shaft and compresses the bellow, maintaining constant contact between the sealing surfaces. This design minimizes wear and ensures longevity, as the rotor's O-rings rotate with the shaft without experiencing wear.
