The PSS 02-114-200 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for reliability and performance in marine applications. This innovative mechanical face seal features a unique design that ensures a secure and leak-free operation.

The PSS - PYI Type A Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal, where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of the rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is fixed to the front of the bellow using hose clamps, while the back end of the bellow securely fits over the stern tube, also held in place with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellow before being secured to the shaft with set-screws.

This pre-loading ensures consistent contact between the rotor and flange, effectively compensating for any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust. The carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, accommodating misalignment and vibration, thus enhancing durability.

To further ensure efficiency, the stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings recessed into the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with the shaft and rotor, preventing wear during operation.
