PSS 02-112-300 - Dripless Shaft Seal 1 1/2", 3" Stern Tube
The PSS 02-112-300 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for reliable performance in marine applications. It features a mechanical face seal that ensures effective sealing through its innovative design.
The PSS - PYI Type A Shaft Seal utilizes a unique sealing surface formed between a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely mounted to the bellow, which is clamped to the stern tube at the rear. The stainless-steel rotor, positioned in front of the carbon flange on the shaft, compresses the bellow, allowing for a secure fit with set-screws.
This pre-load compression maintains continuous contact between the rotor and the flange, effectively accommodating any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust. The carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, helping to mitigate misalignment and vibration issues.
Sealing is enhanced by two O-rings recessed within the collar, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring minimal wear during operation.
