The PSS 02-112-214 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for optimal performance in marine environments, ensuring a reliable seal for stern tubes. This advanced mechanical face seal utilizes a unique design to maintain a watertight barrier while accommodating movement and alignment challenges.

The PSS - PYI Type A Shaft Seal features a mechanical face seal where the sealing occurs between a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange, secured to the front of a flexible bellow with hose clamps, fits over the stern tube, providing a robust connection. The stainless-steel rotor compresses the bellow and is firmly attached to the shaft with set-screws, ensuring consistent contact between the rotor and flange.

This design allows the PSS seal to adapt to variations in fore and aft movements caused by propeller thrust, maintaining effectiveness. The carbon flange is designed to accommodate the shaft diameter, allowing it to float and thus mitigate misalignment and vibration issues.

Sealing is enhanced by two O-rings that are recessed within the rotor collar, which rotate with the shaft, minimizing wear and ensuring longevity.
