The PSS 02-110M-634 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for reliable performance in marine applications. This mechanical face seal features a unique design that effectively prevents leaks while accommodating the movement of the stern tube.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal, where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellow's front side with hose clamps, while the back end fits over the stern tube and is also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellow before attachment with set-screws. This pre-load ensures constant contact between the rotor and carbon flange, allowing the seal to adjust for any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust.

The carbon flange is engineered to float around the shaft diameter, accommodating misalignment and vibrations effectively. The stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft using two recessed O-rings that rotate with the assembly, minimizing wear during operation.
