The PSS 02-110M-612 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for superior performance in marine applications. This innovative sealing solution ensures reliability and efficiency, making it an essential component for any stern tube setup.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal design, where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellow using hose clamps, while the back of the bellow fits over the stern tube and is also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is installed on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, applying compression to the bellow before being fixed to the shaft with set-screws. This pre-load ensures constant contact between the rotor and flange, allowing the PSS to adapt to the variable movements caused by propeller thrust.

To accommodate misalignment and vibration, the carbon flange is designed to "float" around the shaft, as it is over-bored to match the shaft diameter. Additionally, the stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft using two recessed O-rings that rotate with the assembly and are protected from wear during operation.
