The PSS 02-110M-600 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for optimal performance in marine applications, ensuring a reliable seal for stern tubes. This advanced mechanical face seal features a unique design that enhances durability and functionality, making it a preferred choice for boat owners.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal operates through a mechanical face seal mechanism. It creates a sealing surface between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The stationary carbon flange is affixed to the front side of the bellow using hose clamps, while the rear end of the bellow fits over the stern tube and is also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange and is crucial for compressing the bellow before it is secured to the shaft with set-screws. This compression, known as pre-load, ensures constant contact between the stainless-steel rotor and the carbon flange, allowing the PSS to adjust for any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust.

The carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, compensating for misalignment and vibration issues. The stainless-steel rotor features two O-rings recessed into the collar's bore, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, minimizing wear during operation.
