PSS 02-110M-534 - Dripless Shaft Seal 110 mm, 5 3/4" Stern Tube
The PSS 02-110M-534 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for optimal performance in marine applications. Its mechanical face seal design ensures a reliable sealing surface formed by the rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange.
The stationary carbon flange is securely attached to the bellow's front side using hose clamps, while the bellow's rear end fits snugly over the stern tube, also secured by hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor mounts onto the shaft ahead of the carbon flange and compresses the bellow, establishing a pre-load that maintains consistent contact between the rotor and the flange. This mechanism allows the PSS seal to adjust to any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust.
Designed for flexibility, the carbon flange is over-bored to the shaft diameter, enabling it to "float" and compensate for misalignment and vibration issues. Additionally, the stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft with two recessed O-rings that rotate with the shaft, ensuring minimal wear during operation.
Temperature Limits: -13°F to 425°F (-25°C to 220°C)
Pressure Limits: 3.5 BAR (50 PSI)
Shaft Speed Limits: 7,000 rpm.
Carbon-Graphite: Lapped to 4 HLB (0.00000044" tolerance)
