PSS 02-110M-512 - Dripless Shaft Seal 110 mm, 5 1/2" Stern Tube

The PSS 02-110M-512 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for optimal performance in marine environments. It's designed to provide a reliable seal for stern tubes, ensuring minimal water ingress while allowing for movement due to propeller thrust.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal system. The seal is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is secured to the front of the bellow using hose clamps, while the back of the bellow fits over the stern tube, also secured with clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is attached to the shaft in front of the carbon flange and is responsible for compressing the bellow before being fixed to the shaft with set-screws. This pre-load maintains consistent contact between the rotor and flange, allowing the seal to adapt to any forward or backward movement from propeller thrust.

The carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, accommodating misalignment and vibrations effectively. Sealing is enhanced by two O-rings recessed into the collar bore, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring minimal wear during operation.
