PSS 02-105M-614 - Dripless Shaft Seal 105 mm, 6 1/4" Stern Tube
The PSS 02-105M-614 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for reliability and performance in marine applications. This mechanical face seal utilizes advanced materials and design to ensure a secure fit and prevent leaks.
The Type B PSS Shaft Seal features a unique sealing mechanism where the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor meet a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellow's front side using hose clamps, while the bellow's rear end fits over the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft ahead of the carbon flange and is designed to compress the bellow before being fastened to the shaft with set-screws. This pre-load maintains constant contact between the rotor and carbon flange, effectively compensating for any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust. The carbon flange is over-bored to the shaft diameter, allowing it to float and address misalignment and vibration issues seamlessly. Additionally, the rotor is sealed to the shaft using two recessed O-rings, ensuring they rotate with the assembly and experience minimal wear during operation.
