The PSS 02-105M-612 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for reliable performance in marine applications. Engineered for durability and efficiency, this mechanical face seal utilizes a unique design to maintain optimal sealing conditions.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal features a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellow using hose clamps, while the rear of the bellow fits snugly over the stern tube, also secured with clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange and compresses the bellow before being fixed to the shaft with set-screws. This pre-load ensures constant contact between the rotor and flange, enabling the PSS to adapt to any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust.

The carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, allowing it to compensate for misalignment and vibration. Additionally, the rotor's sealing is enhanced by two O-rings recessed into the collar's bore, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, minimizing wear during operation.
