The PSS 02-105M-600 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed to provide reliable sealing for stern tubes in marine applications. Its innovative mechanical face seal technology ensures optimal performance and durability, making it an essential component for any vessel.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal features a mechanical face seal that creates a reliable sealing surface between the rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange. The stationary carbon flange is securely attached to the bellow’s front side with hose clamps, while the back end fits over the stern tube and is also secured with hose clamps. Positioned in front of the carbon flange, the stainless-steel rotor is designed to compress the bellow before being fixed to the shaft with set-screws. This compression, known as pre-load, ensures consistent contact between the flat surfaces of the rotor and flange, allowing the PSS to effectively adjust to any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust.
The carbon flange is intentionally over-bored to the shaft diameter, allowing it to "float" and accommodate minor misalignments and vibrations. Sealing is ensured by two O-rings that are recessed into the collar's bore, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, minimizing wear during operation.
