The PSS 02-105M-512 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for high performance and reliability in marine applications. This mechanical face seal features a unique design that ensures a secure and leak-free operation, even under varying conditions.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface forms between a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellow with hose clamps, while the back end of the bellow fits over the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellow as it is secured to the shaft with set-screws. This pre-load maintains constant contact between the rotor and carbon flange, allowing the seal to adjust to any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust. The carbon flange is designed with an over-bore to accommodate shaft diameter, enabling it to float and effectively handle misalignment and vibrations. Two O-rings recessed into the collar bore seal the stainless-steel rotor to the shaft, ensuring they rotate together without wear during operation.
