The PSS 02-100M-614 Dripless Shaft Seal is an advanced solution for marine applications, designed to provide reliable sealing for stern tubes. This mechanical face seal features a robust design that ensures optimal performance in various conditions.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face sealing mechanism, where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellow using hose clamps, while the rear of the bellow fits snugly over the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, helping to compress the bellow prior to being fastened to the shaft with set-screws.

This pre-compression maintains continuous contact between the stainless-steel rotor and the carbon flange, allowing the seal to adapt to any forward or backward movement caused by propeller thrust. The carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft due to its over-bored configuration, effectively accommodating misalignment and vibration issues. Furthermore, the stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft by two recessed O-rings, which rotate in unison with the rotor and shaft, ensuring minimal wear during operation.
