The PSS - PYI Type A PSS Shaft Seal is a cutting-edge mechanical face seal designed for reliable performance in marine applications. It features a unique sealing mechanism that ensures a tight fit while accommodating the dynamic movements of the vessel.

The sealing surface is formed between the flat stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange, secured to the bellow with hose clamps, fits over the stern tube and is also clamped in place. The rotor, mounted on the shaft, compresses the bellow to maintain constant contact with the carbon flange, effectively compensating for any movement caused by propeller thrust.

Designed for flexibility, the carbon flange is over-bored to the shaft diameter, allowing it to float and adjust to misalignments and vibrations. The stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft with two recessed O-rings that rotate in unison, preventing wear during operation.
