Kobelt 7148 - Power Follow-Up, Hydraulic Steering System with Solenoid for Enhanced Rudder Control
The Kobelt 7148 Power Follow-Up is a high-performance hydraulic steering system designed to provide effortless rudder control for larger and high-speed vessels. When coupled with a pressure-compensated hydraulic power source, this unit offers smooth fingertip control over the rudder, making steering easier on larger boats. The system is particularly useful for vessels where manually turning the rudder would be a physical challenge for the operator. The 7148 Power Follow-Up can be fitted with various solenoids, including 120 VAC, 12 VDC, 24 VDC, and 32 VDC, to allow for integration with autopilot or remote control systems.
This unit is built for durability and reliability, with castings made from silicon bronze die-cast and all hardware constructed from stainless steel. The design includes a patented flexible linkage arrangement that compensates for motion differences, ensuring smooth operation. In the event of hydraulic pressure failure, a changeover valve redirects fluid from the helm pump to the steering cylinders, allowing the vessel to be steered manually. With its high output flow rate and pressure compensation, the Kobelt 7148 provides a consistent and reliable steering solution for maritime applications.
- Hydraulic Power Source: Requires a pressure-compensated pump for optimal performance.
- High Output Flow Rate: Max. output flow rate of 20 gal/min (75 l/min).
- Servo Cylinder Displacement: 13.2 in (216 cm) for smooth steering control.
- Port Configuration: Helm lines ¼” NPT, all other ports ½” NPT for easy integration.
- Durable Construction: Made from silicon bronze die-cast and stainless steel for long-lasting service.
- Redundancy Feature: Changeover valve ensures safe manual steering in case of hydraulic failure.
- Weight: 30 lbs (13.5 kg) without solenoid; 35 lbs (16 kg) with solenoid.
