Gori Propeller 18x11x3LHx1:10W35 - Folding Propeller 18x11x3LH for 35mm ISO shaft
The Gori 3-blade folding propeller, introduced in 1994 and distinguished with the DAME Award and HISWA Award, represents a notable leap in marine propulsion technology. This propeller signifies a significant advancement in the development of propellers for sailing yachts, offering the dual benefits of speed advantages under sail and the thrust of a fixed propeller under motor for both larger sailing yachts and motor sailers.
Characterized by the wing curvature, the 3-blade Gori folding propeller excels in creating excellent thrust both ahead and in reverse, outperforming most other propellers and enhancing maneuvering properties. The standout "Overdrive" function allows the helmsman to dynamically change the pitch and profile of the propeller when moving forward, controlled seamlessly via the boat's single lever shift without the need for delicate hydraulics or complicated mechanics.
Utilized under power in calm weather or when powering under sail, the "Overdrive" function maintains the same speed at lower revs, resulting in reduced engine noise, less vibration, and improved fuel consumption. The operation is straightforward, shifting from normal ahead to "overdrive" via reverse, moving the ship clearly backwards, then shifting back to ahead. Returning from "overdrive" to normal ahead involves shifting gears to neutral, propeller folds, and shifting back to ahead, setting the Gori folding propeller apart from others in the market.
Suitable for engines from 7kW (10hp) - 221kW (300hp)
Breaking the tradition of being reserved for smaller vessels, the Gori folding propeller is now available for engines over 300 hp, extending its benefits to large sailing yachts and motor sailers. The special design minimizes noise and vibration issues commonly associated with rotary blade propellers with flat blades.
The 3-blade Gori folding propeller comes in diameters from 15” to 30” for standard shafting and 15” to 20” for saildrive configurations, catering to various vessel requirements. The low profile when folded delivers the lowest drag among 3-blade folding and rotary blade propellers, proven by independent tests. This leads to an increase in boat speed under sail, enhancing the overall value of your vessel. The unique shape prevents debris entanglement and eliminates the need for an expensive shaft brake in vessels with hydraulic gearboxes.
Advantage under sail
The low profile when folded results in the lowest drag among 3-blade folding and rotary blade propellers, proven by independent tests. This leads to an increase in boat speed under sail, enhancing the overall value of your vessel. The unique shape prevents debris entanglement and ensures the propeller remains closed when sailing. For vessels with hydraulic gearboxes, the Gori propeller eliminates the need for an expensive shaft brake, ensuring durability without compromise.
Performance under engine
Tests by leading yachting magazines and independent organizations confirm the 3rd flg. Gori folding propeller's significantly higher efficiency in both advance (+15%) and reverse (+15%) compared to other folding or rotary blade propellers. This efficiency is attributed to the special curvature and rotation of the propeller blades, optimizing under-powered thrust not achieved with flat-blade designs of rotary blade propellers.
