Gori Faltprop. 18x11x3LHS for Sail-Drive
The Gori Faltprop. 18x11x3LHS is a revolutionary 3-blade folding propeller that debuted in 1994, earning prestigious accolades like the DAME Award and HISWA Award for the best new marine product. Representing a significant leap in propeller development for sailing yachts, it caters to both larger sailing yachts and motor sailers, combining the speed advantages of the folding propeller under sail with the thrust of the fixed propeller under motor.
The wing curvature of the 3-blade Gori folding propeller ensures outstanding thrust in both forward and reverse, surpassing most other propellers and enhancing maneuverability. Its standout feature, the "Overdrive" function, allows the helmsman to dynamically adjust the pitch and profile of the propeller when moving forward, controlled via the boat's single lever shift without the need for delicate hydraulics or complicated mechanics.
Suitable for engines from 7kW (10hp) - 221kW (300hp)
Folding propellers, traditionally reserved for smaller sailing yachts, are now available for engines over 300 hp, providing large sailing yachts and motor sailers with the unique advantages of the Gori 3-bladed propeller.
The special design of the Gori propeller minimizes noise and vibration, common issues with rotary blade propellers. Available in diameters from 15” to 30” for standard shafting and 15” to 20” for saildrive configurations, it offers superior performance under sail, preventing debris entanglement and demonstrating remarkable efficiency under engine power.
Advantage Under Sail:
The low profile when folded results in the lowest drag among 3-flg. folding and rotary blade propellers. Independent tests confirm increased boat speed under sail, enhancing the overall value of your boat.
The shape of the folding propeller prevents seaweed, plastic bags, and other flotsam from getting caught, ensuring smooth sailing. With hydraulic gearboxes, the expensive installation of a shaft brake can be avoided without jeopardizing the durability of the gearbox.
Performance Under Engine:
Tests by leading yachting magazines and independent organizations reveal a significantly higher efficiency (+15%) in advance and reverse compared to other folding or rotary blade propellers. This efficiency is attributed to the special curvature and rotation of the propeller blades, optimizing thrust even in underpowered conditions.
Saildrive Propellers:
The hub of the Gori Saildrive Propeller is designed with a flexible core that acts as a shock absorber and electrically isolates the propeller from the saildrive, as required by engine manufacturers. A safety system in the hub increases durability and ensures maneuverability at all times. The propeller has been designed for the most popular sail drives such as Bukh, Sonic, Volvo-Penta (including 50S and 100S drives), Yanmar, and others.
