Gori 2-blade Folding Propeller 16.5x13x2LHS for Sail-Drive
The Gori 2-blade folding propeller has a rich history spanning over 25 years, evolving continuously to harness the benefits of modern manufacturing technology and testing capabilities.
Designed for sailing yachts with engines up to approximately 44 kW/60 hp, this folding propeller is available in seven sizes ranging from 11.5” to 18” Ø for both shafts and sail drives. It offers the flexibility of being supplied in either clockwise or counter-clockwise versions to cater to specific preferences.
One of the distinctive features of the Gori 2-blade folding propeller is its blade synchronization, ensuring a harmonized wing movement with teeth to minimize vibrations during forward and reverse motion. This guarantees a correct pitch setting and optimal conduction under motor power. When sailing, the wings fold automatically, reducing drag to a minimum.
Under sail, the Gori folding propeller outperforms fixed-pitch propellers by significantly reducing water resistance, as indicated by independent tests showcasing up to a 35% decrease. This reduction translates to a speed increase of up to 1 knot, varying with boat length and displacement. The propeller's design also prevents seaweed, plastic bags, and other debris from clinging to it during sailing.
Full power in reverse is a standout feature of the Gori 2-blade folding propeller, with independent tests showing efficiency equal to or surpassing most 2- and 3-blade rotary or folding propellers. Optimal reverse thrust is achieved through a combination of shape and profile design of the blades, coupled with centrifugal force, setting it apart from other folding propellers that rely solely on centrifugal force to open the wings.
Similarly, independent tests have verified that the forward drive efficiency of the 2-blade Gori folding propeller exceeds that of most 2- and 3-blade rotary and folding propellers, ensuring full power when driving forward. The Gori Saildrive Propeller's hub features a flexible core for shock absorption and electrical isolation from the saildrive, meeting engine manufacturers' requirements. A safety system in the hub enhances durability and ensures maneuverability, designed for popular sail drives like Bukh, Sonic, Volvo-Penta, Yanmar, and more.
