CENTADISC-M Drive Shaft
The CENTADISC-M series drive shaft stands out with its unique and proven steel membrane design, capable of transmitting higher torques while compensating for significant misalignments. Featuring a lightweight design, the CENTADISC-M Series drive shaft incorporates a tandem steel membrane and an intermediate tube made of steel or carbon-fiber reinforced plastic. The tandem membrane, acting as a double cardanic system, is radially stiff and adept at compensating for substantial axial misalignment.
Ideally suited for applications in ship propulsion, pump drives, cooling tower drives, paper mills, printing, and general power transmission, the CENTADISC-M boasts a modular design that allows for easy component exchange without disturbing connected shafts, making it a low-maintenance solution. With lengths available up to 10 meters (30') per section, the CENTADISC-M minimizes the need for additional components like bearings and foundations, establishing itself as a cost-effective drive shaft solution.
The CENTADISC-M series features a thin-wall steel tube welded at the ends or available as a single-piece construction for short-length applications. Additionally, it offers an option with a tube made from carbon-fiber reinforced composite material, enhancing its characteristics by reducing weight, improving corrosion resistance, and enabling higher speeds. The unique CENTA clamping device securely connects the composite tube to steel adaptors by gripping the tube from the inside, ensuring dynamic strength without the need for adhesives. CENTADISC-M flexible drive shafts, known for their lightweight design, find optimal use in high-speed ferries and ships. However, their precision-engineered design makes the M series products versatile, offering an efficient drive shaft solution for various industries and applications.
