The VE.Bus Bluetooth Smart Dongle by Victron Energy seamlessly integrates with various inverter/charger models, offering convenient monitoring and control via the VictronConnect app. This versatile accessory enables adjustments in input current limit, mode toggling, and serves as a voltage and temperature sensor, particularly beneficial for models like the MultiPlus-II lacking built-in connections. While suitable for mobile homes, yachts, and caravans, it's essential to note its limitations in functionality concerning Digital Multi Control and VE.Bus BMS. For optimal installation, placement on the exterior of the MultiPlus with the provided sticky patch is recommended, along with appropriate cable length considerations based on temperature sensor utilization.

VE.Bus Bluetooth Smart Dongle.
Description:
The VE.Bus Smart Dongle is a versatile accessory designed for compatibility with Victron Energy's inverter/charger range. It serves multiple functions and enables seamless monitoring and control.
Features:
Bluetooth accessory compatible with various inverter/charger models including Multis, MultiPlusse, MultiPlus-II, MultiGrid, MultiGrid-II, Quattros, and Phoenix inverters with a VE.Bus port.
Allows monitoring of operations and system control via the VictronConnect app.
Enables adjustments such as changing input current limit and toggling between on, off, and charger-only mode.
Functions as a voltage and temperature sensor for the inverter/charger system.
Particularly advantageous for models like the MultiPlus-II that lack built-in connections for voltage and temperature sensors.
Well-suited for monitoring in mobile homes, smaller yachts, and caravans where comprehensive systems like Color Control GX or Venus GX may be excessive.
Requirements and Installation:
To utilize the VE.Bus Dongle's full functionality, ensure the MultiPlus or Quattro is updated to the 4xx firmware. Note that only units with the new microprocessor and firmware starting from 26xxxxx or higher are updateable due to memory constraints.
Updating the firmware requires the Mk3USB interface. Instructions for firmware updates are available in a blog post provided by the manufacturer.
After updating the firmware and installing the VE.Bus Dongle, functionalities include switching between inverter and charger modes, and adjusting charging current. However, it's important to note limitations:
The VE.Bus Dongle cannot switch the unit on and off if the Digital Multi Control is also installed.
If a VE.Bus BMS is present, the current limit adjustment with the Dongle is not possible.
Installation Tips:
If not using a temperature sensor, the recommended placement for the VE.Bus Dongle is on the exterior of the MultiPlus using the provided sticky patch. A short VE Bus cable (0.3m or 0.9m) is needed to connect it.
If opting for the temperature sensor option (sold separately), install the Dongle near the batteries. A longer VE Bus cable will be necessary to connect to the MultiPlus in this setup. -
