We do not recommend using such exhaust fans to supply air to the vessel's engines. Any marine engine is able to suck enough air on its own, provided there are sufficient ventilation holes in the engine room. When such an exhaust fan is installed in the air shaft leading to the engine, the electric motor can overheat as the motor suction force will cause the fan to spin faster than the number of revolutions it is designed for. The purpose of these fans, for which they are ideal, is to remove hot air from the engine room when the motors are shut down, or, if gasoline engines are installed, to remove gasoline vapors before the engine (s) start up.
