Key Considerations for Marine Diesel Engines:
- The required air volume for fuel combustion is approximately 6.1 m³ per kW (4.5 m³ per hp) per hour.
- Intake air speed should not exceed 3 m/s.
- In addition to combustion air, engines require sufficient airflow to dissipate the heat generated during operation.
- The volume of air needed to remove heat is approximately equal to the volume required for fuel combustion.
Vetus ventilation grilles for plenum ventilation are thoughtfully designed to meet these requirements. The grille model numbers in the table correspond to the engine horsepower for which they are designed. For example, in the case of two 60 hp engines (totaling 120 hp), we recommend using two ventilation grilles: one for fuel combustion air intake and the other for heat dissipation (one on the port side and one on the starboard side).
